This 10KG washer is rated A+++ for energy-efficiency, thanks in part to its "Active Load" technology.
Active Load weighs your laundry and works out the optimum amount of time, energy, and water to use.
The model also features "ActiveCare" which removes 100 common stains at just 20 degrees which saves even more energy and gets clothes cleaner.
The one reservation I have about this (as discussed in this blog post) is that washing at a lower temperature leaves germs and bacteria.
However, this model also has "Steam Hygiene - a 20-minute programme which kills 99.9% of bugs and germs. It also leaves your clothes feeling fresh and ready-to-iron.
Of course, the one drawback is the added time. And this is something that marks this Hotpoint Activecare model down for me.
There is no half-load and the spin speed is only 800 RPM during the 30-minute quick wash. If you require a 60-degree programme, you can expect to wait 2 - 3 hours depending on the one chosen.
Still, this 10KG washer is easy-to-use, is great for big loads (including duvets), and from a reliable brand. At the price, it's definitely one for the shortlist.

However, you do get a lot of washing programmes and nifty extras with this one. There's an Allergy Plus setting to kill bugs and bacteria (including Coronavirus), a sports setting, and an innovative "AutoStain" programme. You can select the stain from the menu and the automatically senses the fabric type and adjusts the time and temperature to match.
